The cutter ship was interesting, but it is currently going through restoration so there was not a whole lot of information on board and compared to the submarine it seemed pretty barebones, regardless though it is still worth walking through and taking photos. The sub alone I recommend people visiting its an amazing piece of history worth touring through.
The submarine was an amazing experience and because I arrived early to the museum I had the entire sub to myself to walk through and take unobstructed photos. Plan approximately 1.5-2 hours to tour the Submarine and grounds. The audio guides are offered in 7 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Korean, Japanese and Mandarin. Our tours are self-guided and include FREE audio guides. My favorite section of the museum was the POW section where they told a couple prisoner stories as well as showed artifacts from the time period. Admission to the Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum, USS Bowfin, a World War II submarine, and outdoor exhibits.

The museum was full of useful information and interesting artifacts some of which you can interact with. The museum is cut into three parts: The museum itself, the submarine, and a cutter ship. The staff were friendly and I think for what you get the price was reasonable. I am a huge nerd when it comes to history and I highly recommend visiting this museum when visiting Muskegon. You could squeeze in a visit in as little as an hour but 2-3 hours would be much better. If you are in the Muskegon area, don't miss the opportunity to visit this great museum. Most people will have no difficulty but some will. Also, moving through the sub involves going through somewhat small hold doors (exactly like what you see in movies). While it may play a back seat to the sub, it is still very interesting to walk through.īe aware, moving around on the sub and cutter involves climbing up and down very steep stairs (about 75 degree angle).
Doing so will help you better understand and appreciate what you see when you walk through the submarine.Īlso on site is a hundred year old Coast Guard cutter.

Before walking through it, be sure to watch the movie in the theater.
